A group of 280 independently owned grocery stores came to us for a solution. They asked us to design a grind log solution for them because the USDA now requires all grocery stores to log their beef grinds. They needed an electronic solution rather than a manual one so they could save time and money. Thus, we created Grind Log Pro which does what they asked for.
If you want to talk to someone, either about the USDA’s FSIS grind log laws, or if you want help deciding on whether a manual or electronic grind log is right for you, please call or email us today. Grocery stores spend less money on their employees manually writing down data, so they can do they job they were hired to do. Furthermore, you get complete, accurate, and legible records. Finally, you don’t have to worry about the USDA fines, or your meat department being non-compliant.

DETAILS ON THE FSIS’ FINDINGS ON MANUAL GRIND LOGS:
The FSIS used a Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study of ground beef record keeping practices to show how few manual logs are compliant. Per the study, they found that 74 percent of chain retail stores and 12 percent of independent retail stores kept grinding logs. Of the stores that kept grinding logs, the study reported 78 percent of those logs were incomplete.
First, the record keeping distribution of large entities, based on the survey results, is approximately 16 percent complete, 58 percent incomplete, and 26 percent no records. Lastly, as for the small entities, the distribution is approximately 3 percent complete, 9 percent incomplete, and 88 percent no records.
